OOTP 13 Available Now for Pre-Order Customers

Today is download day for pre-order customers of OOTP 13. I downloaded and installed my copy in about 5 minutes. My first impression is the same as most of the reviews I have read: the new interface is gorgeous! I will be posting a more detailed review later this weekend once I’ve had a chance to really sink my teeth into the game.

In addition, I can confirm that iOOTP 2012 is available for download in the Apple Store. I started playing around with a a modern game last night, signing Roy Oswalt to the Blue Jays. The interface is much improved, but I haven’t had a chance to really explore the new version in depth so far.

OOTP Schedule Generator in the Works

This is just a quick note to announce that I am in the process of developing an online schedule generator for OOTP. The goal of this project is to generate schedules that will be more aesthetically pleasing that the schedules generated by the game. In addition, it will feature era-appropriate game times. Perhaps most importantly, it will create highly desirable schedules by employing combinatorial optimization algorithms.

For those interested in what’s under the hood, I have started a thread on the OOTP describing the design and implementation of the generator.
